Munachi Mbonu is a talented young Nigerian fiction writer. She loves to tell African stories using indigenous content such as cultural references, local languages, names and cuisine. Her books are very relatable to Nigerians because they showcase our culture and values to the rest of the world.

Munachi was born on the 15th of July 2007 in Enugu, Nigeria. She hails from Nnewi North Local Government Area of Nnewi, Anambra State. She began her education at Pinecrest School, Enugu where she graduated from nursery school as the Overall Best Graduating Student. She moved to Lagos in 2013 and that year, her writing talent was discovered by her mum. She excelled academically and also won medals in various extra-curricular activities such as chess, scrabble, spelling bees and lawn tennis.

Munachi became an author at 10, with the publication of Concealed and Chidubem: The Child of Destiny in 2017. The public presentation and launch of these books was at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Her third book, Father’s Will, was published by FROT Group in 2019 and launched at Eko Hotels and Suites by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-olu, and other dignitaries.

Munachi has spoken at several events such as FAMFA Oil’s World Book Day event in 2019 with over 2000 students from different primary and secondary schools in attendance, Lions Clubs International’s Reading Action Program, and a 2019 Summer Book Reading event in the United Kingdom. She has received the Idahosa Wells Okunbo Excellence Awards and the Creestel Heritage Award for her excellence and creativity.

She is currently an award-winning Year 11 student of Atlantic Hall School Epe, bagging merits and commendations for academics, sports and community development activities. Munachi firmly believes that the future of our great nation depends on the youth and that young people ought to intentionally develop their talents and skills to build a better future, where their potential would be identified and unlocked.
