Young Amadu lives in poverty with his family in a remote village. One night, his grandma gives him a bag of valuable sesame seeds to plant. Eager to be done with the chore, Amadu instead tosses them away.

The next day, he learns the seeds could have earned enough money to feed his hungry family. Amadu searches desperately for the man who picked them up, crying when he can’t find him. Just as he loses hope, the man appears – but won’t return the seeds for free.

To earn them back, Amadu must labour on the man’s farm for three gruelling days. Finally paid with the precious seeds, Amadu quickly plants them and nurtures the crop. When he and his mother sell the harvest at the market, it fetches enough to pay off his father’s debts and fill their stomachs.

This story of responsibility teaches that wasteful decisions can carry grave consequences. But with grit and earnest work, a lost chance may be regained. Amadu learns this lesson the hard way but emerges wiser, gaining food for his family and a lesson for life.
